Work record 3
Plan for shoot
For this shoot i went back to the London Liverpool street area where my second shoot was based as i knew that the area was quite large but because of weather conditions during my second shoot i left earlier than i would have liked. So i originally revisited the area to take some improvement photos, however i ended up taking a whole shoot as i walked around the area and found a number of sky rise buildings that would suit what I am working on currently. As this shoot is my third shoot i have now established techniques that i have developed from shoot 1 that allows me to explore unexpected perspectives of buildings. For example dutch/slanted angles and angles looking up towards the roof of a building, so with this shoot I plan to develop upon these techniques by using these angles but taking better quality photos with them, so better framing and no blur from movement. To capture photos with out blur from movement and with the best possible framing for the perspective that i want to pot ray, i would have to use a tripod, so with this shoot i plan to bring a tripod with me. In terms of photographers research i will use Alexander Rochenko for this shoot, as this shoot will be similar to my second shoot so as i am following the same theme i will use the same artist. I have also looked at the technique of double exposure, so i have an idea of taking photos of the people who would normally be inside of these office sky-rise buildings in London and then adding these photos of people onto the photos of buildings.

AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
For this shoot my intentions were to experiment more with different angles and try to get more unexpected perspectives that I had in previous shoot, I also wanted to capture photos with better exposure than my last shoot. Going to the area in London I did, I found that there was a variation of tall and large buildings that I would be able to achieve my intentions with. For example with the first straight image I was able to capture a photo completely different than I had before because the perspective was slightly varied to what I would normally do. Instead of the photo being taken from the from of the building with quite a low angle looking up, this photo is more in-between of the side and front and the angle isn't that low but it isn't eye-level. Also with the 4th straight image I was able to capture a good quality photo of that style and perspective, as I had previously tried to capture photos like that but they never worked out due to exposure issues. I think that my work is starting to progress and become more cohesive, as I am using the same styles of photography for my photos but I am just developing and improving upon them in every shoot.

AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
I think that with this shoot like the previous two, more so the second shoot, Alexander Rodchenko's photographic influence is most present in my photos. This is due to me using the same type of low angles and perspectives for the photos. However with this shoot I did encounter some reflections however they were not large enough or had actual reflections of buildings inside them so I was not able to link my work to Ernst Haas. However, I do think that the link to Alexander's work is present within my work and the way that I am taking photos from the same perspectives of his work, is getting more varied. I don't think that the use of tones is present as much in my work like Alexander's, however I'm not sure if that's due to me shooting in colour and if I changed my photos to black and white I would be able to visibly see the similarities.

I think that this image could be improved upon because the photo has a lot of movement, due to not being taken on a tripod and a change in exposure which I should have change the shutter speed slighter faster to accommodate for the change. With this photo I was trying to see if I could capture the reflections of the building opposite in this buildings windows because its similar to Ernst Haas' work on reflections of buildings from other buildings. However because I did not use my tripod I could not capture the photo properly. To improve upon this photo I would have to re-visit the area to re-take the photo.
AO2 Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
For this shoot i used my Nikon D3100 camera that i used in all my previous shoots and used a camera RAW file for all my images. As this day had normal lighting it allowed me to shoot with an ISO of 200 meaning that my photos would not be affect by too much grain. However as usual I did have to vary my ISO for shaded areas of the buildings I used shutter speed of around 1/125 or 1/250 because of the time of day and i couldn't have a shutter speed and lower as the unsteadiness of my hands from me holding the camera would have effected the photos with blur. I did not think that it would have been very practical of me if i had used a tripod because of how busy London city can be, especially on a weekend. However me not using an tripod has effected my work as a downside, as a tripod would have allowed me to keep the camera steady and used slower shutter speeds if i needed to. Also as the majority of the shoot was angles that were looking towards the sky, it would have helped to use a tripod because I could have bee more experimental with low angels and maybe I could have achieved wide angles too, which would have added to the unexpected perspective.

I think that I achieved what I wanted to in this shoot, which was to basically capture more images of better quality and to start to produce a more cohesive and similar body of work, as I found that between the first and second shoot, there is a bit of a difference in the shoots. So I think with this shoot I have allowed the photos to have a clear link back to the previous shoot, this because I used similar framing and perspective for this shoot. However I think that I was able to get the correct aperture for the photos in this shoot. I think that what I still need to improve on is the use of a tripod to ensure steadiness with my photos.
