Work record 2-London architecture
Plan for shoot
For this shoot I plan on taking a more varied body of photos compared to my first shoot, this is because I think that my first shoot was quite small and I wasn't really able to experiment much with what images I took. Also I want to ensure I have a photographers style of work that can be seen present within the images that I produce from this shoot. So I think to do that I need to think more about the area that I base my shoot in and what type of buildings are in that area that will help me achieve photos of unexpected perspectives.

I think with this shoot there are more tones present in my work than my previous shoot and I have more of a cohesive body of work within this shoot that flow together more smoothly. For example the first three straight images all have a great amount of shadows and highlights within them which I don't think I was able to really achieve in my previous shoot, so I have progressed upon that. With my intentions for this shoot, I wanted to have more of a photographers influence clearly shown in my photos and I do think the way I have framed, angled and the use of tones in these photos I have linked my work to Alexander Rodchenko. However I think that I need use a tripod in order to fully progress on my work because to make my photos of better quality I need to use a tripod to help me/

Improve
Due to not using a tripod for this image, I was not able to keep the camera steady enough for the photo due to the exposure time, which resulted in some movement being present in the photo. Also I think that the left section of the photo is over exposed which has created a greatly white area in tat section and so objects within that section cannot be seen properly or are in focus even though I used an aperture of f/22 for this photo. To improve the photo I would go back to the area and re-take the photo because I cant fix the issues by editing the photo.
Re-Takes
I went back to the area on a day with better weather, as the weather was a major problem for me when I first shot, because in some cases it would be difficult for me to get the right exposure for the image. Which is what happened in the original image. So I re-took the photo but changed the angle and framing of the photo so that the building was more central in the frame and takes up the last 2/3 of the frame. Even though the let side of the photos are white, its not the same overexposed white, its more due to the clouds, so the photo is more still and I don't have the movement I did in the original

Photographers influence- Alexander Rodenchko
I think that for this shoot the majority of my photographic influence was from Alexander Rodchenko's work. This is because I found that the angles and perspectives that I used to take these photos were ones similar to Alexanders' work. For example the photo below is taken from a low angle looking up towards the sky and the rooftop of the building, which is a common theme throughout this shoot. I did change my image to black and white and tried to get some of the tones similar to the tones in Alexanders photos. I would take my photos in black and white so that my work is more in the style of Alexander Rodchenko, however I think with some of the images I take I would need to have colour in them and if I did this shoot in black and white I would have to do all my shoots in black and white so that my work can be cohesive.
AO2 Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
For this shoot i used my Nikon D3100 camera that i used in all my previous shoots and shot with a camera RAW file. On this day I was highly affected by snow in terms of photographic techniques as the snow mean that the lighting for the photos was unusually bright which at the time I was not used to and so it meant I had to use the ISO which was ISO 100 to help cope with the light. However I found that the photos were still effected by the bright lighting as the majority of my photos turned out to be over exposure in certain areas. So to try and cope with the exposure I was constantly adjusting my aperture and shutter speed, for my shutter speed I used around 1/60 to 1/125 s. I did not have a tripod with me on this shoot due to practicality even though from my last shoot I had wanted to improve upon using a tripod to help me but due to the snow it wasn't suitable, I do think that with a tripod I would be able to improve upon some of these photos, so I will revisit the area with a tripod to overcome the issue of over exposure.
AO4
Overall I think that the majority of photos came out quite well with this shoot, and I was able to achieve what I planned to with this shoot. What I wanted to achieve was ensuring that my work had more photographers influence present in it which I think it clearly does. I also wanted to take a more varied and larger set of photos with unexpected perspectives, which I think I did do with this shoot because the area I based this shoot in was large enough for me to take more photos, thus more unexpected perspectives. With this shoot as well, I went back to improve upon my images, which is something I hadn't done with my fist shoot, so I was able to improve on my work and things that needed more work.
